Degree
The Department of Anatomy (Faculty of Medicine) offers a Master of Science program in Anatomy. The program only offers thesis option as research requirements.
Vision
The Department of Anatomy MSc program was established with the vision to produce qualified competent teachers, independent scientific researchers and to take up the responsibilities in future. The graduates should be able to pursue PhD programs in academic or scientific institutions in Kuwait or abroad. We aim to produce candidates with high caliber of anatomy knowledge and teaching skills and ability to perform independent research who shall fill up positions in esteemed teaching, research institutions and health sector throughout Kuwait and the region.
Mission
Our mission to this program is dedicated to providing excellence in education, research, rigorous experimental training in Gross anatomy, Behavioral neuroscience, cell biology, Neurodegeneration, and Tissue culture. Giving students an in-depth knowledge of fundamental and up-to-date Anatomical principles and state-of-the-art research training. We are preparing the next generation of scientists to make ground-breaking discoveries in different biomedical fields. Our graduates can choose to remain in academia and study for a PhD or pursue other professions such as Biomedical researcher, Biotechnologist and Forensic scientist. The department emphasizes topics that are relevant for developing medical and public health problems.
Educational Objectives
- To engage in productive careers in a broad range of medical and paramedical areas in public and private sectors in Kuwait.
- To successfully pursue advanced studies and careers in academia or in other research environments.
Student Learning Outcomes
- To train the students to have in-depth knowledge in various aspects of Anatomy (Gross Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Histology, Human Development, Cell biology) and Human cadaver dissection skills.
- To train the students for advanced scientific research techniques such as tissue culture, microscopic techniques, behavioral and toxicology, teratology through elective courses.
- To train the students for scientific presentations such as seminar/journal club presentations.
- To train the students to explore the scientific literature, think logically, write the research proposal, and conduct the research to fulfill the CGS requirements to graduate successfully as per the goals of the Program.
